At Umoya Trust UK, our mission is rooted in compassion, community, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Connect and Care, a vital part of our organization, embodies the spirit of togetherness, working tirelessly to expand the reach of those who are passionate about helping the most vulnerable among us.

From addressing homelessness and poverty to tackling issues of abuse, we’ve been at the forefront of offering hope and support. Through outreach projects, soup kitchens, and initiatives addressing social housing, we’ve provided critical services to individuals and families in need. Our trained members offer expert advice to the long-term homeless, helping them navigate pathways toward stability and dignity.

But our work doesn’t stop at the borders of the UK. We are deeply connected to the global community, with strong ties to Africa. Through our orphanage, we’ve supported some of the most neglected African children, giving them the opportunity to access education and build brighter futures. Recently, we embarked on an exciting new venture: the construction of a home in Zambia to provide care and support for the elderly and disabled, ensuring no one is left behind.

Our aim is clear—to channel resources and provide meaningful support where it is needed most, whether here in the UK or across the world.

Our Vision

We dream of a united world, a place where generosity and compassion bridge divides and bring people together. It’s a vision of shared humanity, where those with the ability to give—whether time, skills, or resources—join hands to uplift those in desperate need.

We are guided by the words of Mother Teresa:
"We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop."

Each effort, no matter how small, has the power to create ripples of hope and change.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet profound:
To transform lives by improving access to facilities, education, and essential support for the most vulnerable members of our communities.

By helping one person at a time, we strive to make a lasting impact.

The Meaning Behind "Umoya"

The name “Umoya” reflects the core of who we are and what we do. Its roots span several African languages, each carrying a profound meaning:

Zulu: Helping wind; soul, spirit, and breath

Xhosa: Spirit

Swahili: Unity

Shona: My heart

Together, “Umoya” symbolizes the spirit of togetherness—a holistic approach to care that encompasses the soul, spirit, and body. We’ve learned that no one can make a significant difference alone, and our work is a testament to the power of collective action.

What We Stand For

Outreach and Advocacy: Addressing urgent needs through hands-on projects like soup kitchens, social housing advice, and community engagement.

Holistic Care: Supporting not only physical needs but also emotional and spiritual well-being.

Global Impact: Extending our work to Africa, empowering children through education and providing care for the elderly and disabled.

Collaboration: Building partnerships with people like you who share our vision and values.
